Why are the rules for employment agencies changing? The aim is to provide greater protection for both employees and companies
Employment agencies are playing an increasingly important role in the Czech labour market. They help employers fill vacancies and help jobseekers find work across various sectors. At the same time, however, the government is trying to prevent unscrupulous agencies or intermediaries from exploiting the system.
This is precisely why the rules governing the operation of employment agencies have been gradually changing in recent years. The aim is not to complicate legitimate business operations, but to support fair agencies and better protect employees.
Why is the government tightening the rules?
The Czech labour market has long been grappling with a shortage of workers. Companies are therefore increasingly looking for staff not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.
However, where there is high demand for workers, there is also scope for illegal recruitment or the circumvention of labour law regulations.
The government is therefore gradually tightening its supervision of agency employment whilst also seeking ways to make life easier for accredited agencies.
What is set to change?
One of the proposed measures is to amend the rules governing the placement of foreign nationals from countries outside the European Union.
Until now, it has only been possible to fill selected professions listed in a government regulation through agencies. The new proposal envisages greater flexibility.
Instead of a fixed list of professions, the credibility of the employment agency itself should play a greater role. Agencies that have consistently met the legal requirements and repeatedly demonstrated that they operate in accordance with the law should be granted greater scope.
What might this mean for employers?
If the changes are approved, companies will be able to respond more easily to the current situation on the labour market.
- faster recruitment for shortage occupations,
- greater flexibility in recruitment,
- fewer administrative constraints,
- greater emphasis on cooperation with reputable recruitment agencies.
At the same time, however, state oversight and the obligation to comply with labour law regulations will remain in place.
And what about jobseekers?
For people looking for work, the change could be positive, primarily because it will expand opportunities for legal employment through verified agencies.
At the same time, the state is striving to create an environment in which employees can be more confident of fair treatment and clearly defined working conditions.
Why is it important to choose a licensed agency?
Regardless of future legislative changes, one rule applies: it is always advisable to work only with an employment agency that holds a valid licence from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
Licensed agencies are subject to state supervision, must comply with legal obligations and are accountable for their activities.
For jobseekers, this means greater certainty that the job offer is legitimate and that the terms of employment are transparent.
How do we approach this at Práce Lehce?
At Práce Lehce, we believe that a quality recruitment agency is not merely an intermediary between a company and an employee.
Our aim is to build long-term relationships based on trust, open communication and compliance with all legal regulations.
We work with verified employers and provide every jobseeker with clear information about the role before they start work.
Conclusion
Regulations governing employment agencies are gradually evolving, just as the labour market as a whole is. They are designed to promote lawful employment, protect employees and, at the same time, enable companies to respond flexibly to labour shortages.
For jobseekers, the most important thing remains to choose a verified employment agency that operates transparently and provides clear information about working conditions.
